Modular Robotics

Modular Robotics makes robot construction kits. By combining sensor, logic and actuator blocks, young kids can create simple reconfigurable robots that exhibit surprisingly complex behavior. I can't really talk about what I'm working on, but rest assured it will be cool. Ongoing. Technologies used: PHP, C++, Boost C++ library.

Charles has worked on several complex software projects for Modular Robotics.  I call him first when I have a development project that is nebulous; he has a great ability to parse a problem into solvable projects and then complete those projects using a wide variety of languages and frameworks.  I've worked with many talented developers, but Charles has the rare ability to think about software projects at not just the nitty gritty code level, but at the abstract, integrative level as well.

  • Google Wave: a hypothetical case study

    Here's my prediction: Google's wave federation protocol will be the new way to edit and publish shared unstructured data on the web. Waves will store data for blogs and documents. Waves will replace many documents now stored in custom content management systems.
